– That nobility is a real standard, not a relative one
– That accountability is not cruelty but the proper response to conduct that violates trust or agreement
– A creature of law rather than chaos — the redemptive tone of justice rather than compromise for the sake of comfort

The conflict with compassion culture:
– The dominant cultural framework asks for forgiveness, acceptance, and inclusion regardless of whether accountability has been met
– This conflates two different things: karmic compassion (recognizing all beings move through their own patterns) with social forgiveness (continuing relationship without consequence)
– Compassion culture protects social cohesion at the expense of truth
– It asks the wronged party to absorb the cost of keeping things smooth
– It functionally protects people who cause harm from facing consequences
– Peter has never understood the necessity of compassion for conduct that violates ethos, as it denies justice

The distinction that matters:
– Understanding why someone operates through manipulation does not require accepting the manipulation without consequence
– Patterns don’t exempt conduct from accountability
– These are not reconcilable positions — they come from different premises about what human beings owe each other

– The cost of holding that standard in isolation — without community that shares it
