Braid – Roots of Gaia

The lineage of characters who carry the living Gaian intelligence — the recognition that the Earth is a conscious being, that the aina underlies all story, and that the heroic journey walks on literal sacred ground. The rootbranch substrate beneath the World Tree upon which all the Mythica’s thesis stands.

The Gaian lineage thread across the Quest: led to a temple by Hermes Mercury in 2003’s “Call of Mercury,” Peter meets Oberon Zell-Ravenheart — whose Gaia Genesis thesis carries the druidic new-earth animus — and encounters him again across the timeline (“Stranger in a Strange Land” 2003, “Oberon’s Door” 2013, all the way to 2026’s “Oak Circle”). In 2022’s “Voice of the Mythica,” Jocelyn Mercado channels the name “Into the Mythica” for her forum — deferring, through her own divination as a priestess, to the larger energy of the Mythica — and there Peter meets Azra Bertrand, whose biomancy thesis shares the same Gaian recognition held by Oberon and by the deva/aina relationship with Hawai’i. Oberon and Azra are two stations of one current: the living Earth speaking through her scholars.
