Akashic Library – Threads of Fate & Fortune
The Prism and the Prison
Peter and Calliope stand in a great circular room filled with books within the Akashic Library. In front of them lay a number of sculptures of a brain with chains around them.
“The mortal experience is all about Will” said Peter. “About the idea of free will and it’s relationship to Life.”
“You mean like free will?” asked Calliope.
“That’s the thing.” he said. “Will is not free. It has to be freed. People miss the ‘d’.”
“That doesn’t make sense.” said the young Goddess. “I’ve heard the mortal condition is all about free will.”
“Who’d you hear that from?”
“Well … the people.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Free people?”
“You say the library changes shape to communicate ideas, right?”
“Absolutely” said Peter, holding up the sculpture.
“Why does it look like a mind?” she asked.
“Because the mind is the greatest prison of all.” said Peter.
“I … I don’t like the feeling of the chains.” she said. “They feel icky.”
He nodded sadly. “Yes. They do to everyone. No one likes the feeling of limitation. It goes against our deepest nature.”
“Then why does it exist? Why is there limitation?”
“Nature.” he said. “It’s the nature of mortality itself.”
She picked up the sculpture, looking at it in her hands. “What makes it a prison?”
“Repetitions. Thoughts and memories which make up the grooves of the labyrinth itself.”
“I thought memories were good things” she replied.
“Sometimes. It depends on lots of factors. Memories can be both a prism and a prison. Memories are the basis for karmas. Or rather, karmas are the basis the memories. They’re the same thing.”
“I don’t understand. How does this relate to manifestation?”
“Let’s say you wanted something, and you had to do certain steps to get it. Now let’s say something was interfering with your ability to remember those steps, moving against your intention with it’s own will, it’s own gravity.”
“I’m not sure what you’re saying.”
“It relates to what people call ‘karmas’, which relate to the layers of the mind, which in turn relate to the memories of our life and the lives before us, all of which affect our ability to use our will, to even have consistent remembrance of who we are and what we are trying to do.”
The scene shifts then, the chains around the mind shifting and dissolving into patterns of energy which flickered along her body.
“OOoooo!!! Pretty!” she said. “What are these?”
He smiled. “They’re still the chains, yet now we’re seeing them as the lines of your legend. The constellation of synchronicities that is your Fate and Fortune in the mortal plane.” he replied. “Mind you, it’s still a limitation. Everything mortal is. But, it’s another way of seeing the sieve of agency and amnesia that sits beneath our process as mortals.”
“I’m not sure I understand.”
“It has to do with choice.” Peter said. “With the progression along your timeline in the context of the mortal plane. With what options you have access to at what time and in what place, all of which are part of the larger unfoldment of the collective and in the context of the Age.”
“So what you’re saying is … the chains and the patterns of my life are the same?”
“From a perspective of liberation from those patterns, yes. It’s what is called ‘bondage’ in the yogic disciplines, and it relates directly to our memories. To what we are able to remember, what we aren’t, and to what we have access to at any given moment. It is the medley of these things which allows or denies us access to the assets within the Akasha and which limit our experience of life.”
“It’s not all bad” said Peter. “What you’re holding in your hand, the pattern of synchronicities which sets the tone for your Fate and Fortune, is the substance of worlds themselves. Of ALL worlds in the Creation.”
“What do you mean?”
He smiled. “What i’m about to share with you is the secret of the multiverse.” he said. “It’s the very real, very grounded and anchored understanding of how entire worlds are created. It’s the basis for the idea of manifestation, the basis for the idea of changing one’s frequency to create a new reality, the basis for achieving a new string of synchronicities, new thoughts and new choices that define an entirely new world.”
The library shifted around them then, and their footsteps pushed into the soft and slow melt of the clouds. From high in the sky, threads of energy trailed off their forms towards the planet.
“What are they?”
“They are the threads of karma.” he said. “The connecting lines between cause and effect that create the synchronicities of our lives.”
“All synchronicities?”
“All. All things arranged in the confluent dimensions of time and space. It is the nornskein which speaks to our Fate and Fortune, which define the thoughts, the feelings, the beliefs and impressions which give rise to our characters in the Great Story.”
“Everything? Even our thoughts?”
“Of course. Like anything else, our thoughts and feelings happen in certain moments of space and time, and are themselves relative to the dimension we inhabit through our state of being. It is through the threads that we see the beats of our story, with every event happening in it’s proper place and relationship to the other.”
“What about the idea that time is an illusion? That we can change the circumstances of things that have happened to us?”
“You mean like stopping the process of aging? Like choosing to change the death of a loved one long after it has happened? What do you mean by illusion?”
“There was a film in the mortal plane called ‘Cloud Atlas’ Peter said, “which spoke to the weave of our karmas and their stories across lifetimes.”
“I can’t tell what race they are.” she said. “Or whether they are men or women.”
“Yes.” said Peter. “From this altitude, the ideas of race, culture, gender and other deeply impermanent things lack substance. What matters more deeply are the nature of our relationships with each other, with the threads of karmic substance that define our conditions from life to life.”
“It’s more about the pattern than the person” said Peter. “More about the process than the personality.“
“I don’t understand. Are you saying that people’s issues in a single lifetime don’t matter?”
“No. I’m saying that the sources of those issues are always happen in a collective way involving everyone, that no singular incarnate culture or egoic identity is free or to blame.”
She looked confused.
He opened his hands. “It’s like this. Nobody is to blame for it and everyone is responsible for it. Honestly if you want to blame someone for it look to the Creator. That’s what I did.”
“Yet these threads last longer than a single lifetime.” said Peter. “They carry over from body to body, arranging the synchronicities in which a soul encounters it’s resonances and resistances in the field.”
“Consequently, i’ve never really understood the idea of ‘free will’. At least beyond a marketing context.”
“Marketing what?”
“Motivation.”
“I know it can seem ironic given how agitated i’ve been about it, but everything i’ve done is actually to help the people break free of the prison. I consider what i’m doing with the Mythica to be a boddhisattvic act, one of liberation from the bondage God has placed the people into.”
“Well you have to understand that the idea of ‘victim consciousness’ and ‘manifestation’ is a recent thing.” said Peter, “happening only in the last twenty years or so in a major way.”
“Yet it is between the poles of Fate and Fortune that agency resides” said Peter. “In the moments where the tangled skein of our karmic dues and subconscious patterns offers a modicum of freedom.”
“But … but that means you’re born into bondage!” she exclaimed. “That you don’t have choice!”
He nods sadly. “In the yogic traditions, this is appropriately referred to as bondage, and it relates to the nature of the rippling repetitions of impressins across the ethers.”
“Well … then the people could look at the ripples and stop them!” she said.
“You’re assuming they have the capability to see such things.” he replied. “That they have the fortune to see beyond their fate.”
“It is around this crucible that the existential relationship with What Is revolves.” said Peter, “for it is here we face what we can or cannot do in situations and where we see the birth of acceptance of things that lay beyond our grasp.”
“That’s how we look in that Age. The same, but different. Each playing roles appropriate to that moment in space.”
“Yet what we look like changes constantly.” he said. “The essence of the soul takes on many forms in it’s passage through the paragraphs of the Great Story.”
“Yet if we see it from another perspective, well …. it’s a tangled skein.”
“I have always had a deep question into why things are happening.” Said Peter
“why is that?”
“Because things were unpleasant. And they were unpleasant for a long time. And I was expected to constantly adjust myself to the unpleasantness.”
“That sounds… Unpleasant.“ said Calliope.
He nods, grimacing for a moment as if burdened by a great weight.
